Portability & Convenience

Compact, durable design with USB-C and Bluetooth (on Nano X). Perfect for managing your crypto securely on desktop or mobile.

Before You Begin: What You’ll Need

Your Ledger Device

Ensure your Ledger Nano X or Nano S Plus is genuine and unopened. Always purchase from official or trusted resellers to avoid tampered products.

USB-C Cable or Bluetooth

Use the included USB-C cable to connect your device. Nano X also supports Bluetooth for wireless connections with mobile devices.

Computer or Smartphone

Ledger Live supports Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android. Use a trusted device and avoid public Wi-Fi during setup.

Recovery Sheet & Pen

You will receive a recovery sheet to write down your 24-word recovery phrase. Never store your phrase digitally to maintain security.

Time & Focus

Set aside 15-20 minutes in a quiet, distraction-free environment to carefully complete setup and backup.

Step-by-Step Installation & Setup

1. Download Ledger Live

Visit ledger.com/start and download the official Ledger Live app for your platform.

2. Connect Your Ledger Device

Plug your Ledger Nano S Plus or Nano X into your computer or connect via Bluetooth. Power it on by following the on-screen prompts.

3. Initialize Your Device

Choose to set up as a new device. Create a secure PIN code directly on your device (4 to 8 digits). This PIN protects unauthorized access.

4. Write Down Your Recovery Phrase

The device will generate a unique 24-word recovery phrase. Write each word carefully on your recovery sheet and store it securely offline.

5. Confirm Your Recovery Phrase

To verify, the device will ask you to select specific words from your recovery phrase. This step ensures you copied it correctly.

6. Install Cryptocurrency Apps

Using Ledger Live’s Manager tab, install apps for the cryptocurrencies you want to manage (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.). The device’s memory limits the number of apps installed at once.

7. Add Accounts & Start Using

Add your cryptocurrency accounts in Ledger Live, then you can send, receive, and manage your assets with device confirmations.

Your Ledger Wallet is Now Ready!

With your Ledger device set up and backed up correctly, you have the keys to your crypto sovereignty. Stay vigilant and always keep your recovery phrase offline.

Backup & Security Best Practices

Keep Your Recovery Phrase Private

Your 24-word phrase is the master key to your crypto. Never share it with anyone or enter it into any website or app except your Ledger device.

Store Your Backup Offline

Write your recovery phrase on the official recovery sheet or durable metal backups. Avoid digital copies, screenshots, or cloud storage.

Update Device Firmware Regularly

Ledger releases firmware updates to improve security. Always update your device via Ledger Live from official sources.

Verify Ledger Live App Authenticity

Download Ledger Live only from ledger.com/start. Beware of phishing sites or fake apps.

Use a Strong PIN

Your PIN prevents physical unauthorized use. Do not use easy-to-guess numbers like 1234 or your birth year.
